Xian Zhong is Director of the Office of Graduate Education Reform and Development at the Graduate School of Wuhan University of Technology, Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at the School of Artificial Intelligence, and Course Leader of the National First-Class Undergraduate Course Data Structures. He is an IEEE Senior Member and was named among the 2026 Stanford/Elsevier World's Top 2% Scientists. His research interests include brain-inspired and efficient visual intelligence, intelligent perception in open environments, multimodal large models and agents, and AI for Science. He has led research projects funded by the NSFC General Program and the Hubei Provincial Key R&D Program, and has published more than 50 papers in top-tier conferences and journals, including CCF-A conferences and IEEE journals. He holds more than 20 granted Chinese invention patents. His research achievements have received one First Prize and two Third Prizes of the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, one Third Prize of the Hubei Provincial Technological Invention Award, and the First Prize of the CCF Computer Application Innovation Technology Award. His academic recognitions include an IEEE CASS Best Paper Award nomination and Runner-up for the ACM MM Workshop Best Student Paper Award. His teaching achievements have received one Special Prize and three First Prizes of the Hubei Provincial Higher Education Teaching Achievement Awards. He has served as Associate Editor of IEEE TCSVT and TVC since 2025, and as an editorial board member of PR, Computer Engineering, and Virtual Reality & Intelligent Hardware. He has been invited to serve as AC/SPC for ACL, AAAI, IJCAI, ICME, ICASSP, ICMR, MM Asia, and IJCNN, including IJCAI (2025–2026), ICME (2023, 2025, and 2026), ICASSP and ICMR (2026), and IJCNN (2025–2026). He also served as AC/SPC for IEEE ICIP 2024. In addition, he served as Lead Organizer of the ICME 2023 Grand Challenge, the ICME 2025 and 2026 Special Sessions, and the IEEE ICIP 2024 Workshop. He is an Executive Academic Committee Member of VALSE; Secretary of the CSIG Working Committee on Science Popularization and Education and the CSIG Technical Committee on Transportation Video, and a member of the CSIG Technical Committee on Brain-Inspired Vision; an Executive Committee Member of the CCF Technical Committee on Multimedia and the CCF Smart Transportation Division; a member of the CSF Technical Committee on Visual Computing and Simulation; a Supervisor of the Hubei Computer Society; and a Council Member of the Wuhan Computer Software Engineering Society.
